Microsoft new releases
Internet Explorer 7 Released ahead of Vista OS
Microsoft have released the long-awaited version 7 of Internet Explorer. As is often the case, the developers at Microsoft have the luxury of dominance over the browser market, and often appear to sit and wait to see the most popular features of competitors' software before implementing their own iterations in a major release.
At the moment, the most potent challenger to Microsoft's lofty rule are the Mozilla-based browsers, led by the popular and innovative Firefox. As open-source software, it has limitless contributors and, in a cascading manner from Microsoft, also makes use of the innovations of smaller browsers for inspiration.
The new IE7 features tabbed browsing, which Microsoft has enhanced with thumbnail views of each tabbed page and the facility to add groups of tabs to your favourites.
The release is just a few weeks ahead of the release of Vista, Microsoft's latest Windows operating system. Redder has trialled Vista for a few weeks since Microsoft's developers' pre-release was circulated. We will publish our findings shortly.
